Rabbit hunting near Santa Clarita?

Those dumb signs at hungry valley are garbage. They are just a dumb silhouette figure with a red line over it. What is the legal meaning of those signs? I assume they mean no shooting but it could also be seen as no guns, no target shooting, or no hunting so they are asking for confusion with those things.

The hunting West of the OHV area sucks anyways. No deer, bear, quail, rabbits, predators, or ducks.

Well... I do remember seeing deer getting spooked while passing-thru climbing up and up on whatever that expert trail is that goes way back up behind Sandbox. And goes way up high. When you're at the top of that one you can look back and see a huge swath of the 5 Fwy, and Snow will seem to hang around for a significant bit in the shady parts way up there in the winter months.

That one goes for quite a ways around back in there before eventually making it's way back down outta the hills somewhere a little after Smith Forks Campground as I recall. The downhill trek back outta there is long and slow and windy and burns your triceps on the way down from riding the front bakes all the way back down since it's a narrow goat trail.

And there are definitely Jacks in Hungry Valley. Not a lot... but I had a few times where I chased 'em down on Moto

I have been the victim of a 'stick-up' by the greedy people at the kiosk. The solution is to get there before they do. 6:30 or 7 am usually works.

Yeah there are jacks up a ways. And when you get there early you see 'em on the road.

I stay clear of hungry valley after a run in with a very ignorant and misinformed Sheriff. That place is pretty dry and fairly busy with traffic that keeps the rabbits away I think. I've taken a few large Jacks and some Cottontail but the extra time to head into Lockwood Valley is well worth it. Lockwood valley in my opinion is some of the best all around Cottontail and Jack hunting we have locally. If I get out of the Jeep and walk a bit I look for fresh droppings, if I don't see much I move along. Great area for birds as well.

Note, if you tell the pesky kiosk people your heading to the creek they "can't" charge you as that road is an easement into the NF. They can only charge you for use of the OHV area such as camping, use of bathrooms and trash.
