Anyone know an public land for these close by ? I stay in long beach but just wondering or some ducks also thanks for reading

I don't know of any public land close by to Long Beach for any Upland... All of Coastal OC/LA is non-huntable land due to proximity to cities and ocean. Go inland.. Northeast of you is Angeles NF, East of you is San Bern NF, Southeast of you is Cleveland NF, and far Southeast from you is Imperial Valley and San Diego. Sounds like a good drive in any direction you go. Good luck.

first of all do you have a previous hunter safety certificate? & or hunting license.
locate the nearest ranger station & purchase the latest National Forest maps. it takes some doing to find areas for quail, dove & especially for pheasant.
I would maybe go to one of the local ranches & pay for a day's hunt. it would be more enjoyable.

I goose egged at Raahagees yesterday, but a few guys in my group got some birds. They had the dogs out and I still had a blast.

Haven't been up to Angeles Forest, but I did see some, what looked like, chukar near Lake Henshaw in Cleveland Forest yesterday. Only place I ever hunted for dove and/or qual was the San Jacinto Wilderness area, about 17 years ago. Used to see them all the time up in San Bernardino Forest growing up, not sure whats there now.
