My new PRS build

I learned a bunch after putting my first PRS gun together. I am now assembling my second rig. This build will consist of the following:

-Zues terminus action with QC barrel setup
-6cm prefit Bartlein Heavy Varmint 400MODBB barrel for matches
-6.5cm prefit Benchmark Heavy Palma barrel for training
- Triggertech diamond trigger
- MPA BA comp chassis with full weight kit
- ZCO 5-27 scope that I am going to use from my old build

My action is currently in 10 day jail at LMFF. As soon as I get it out I will assemble everything. Plan is to run 115 DTAC bullets in competition and 140 hybrids in the trainer barrel.

So it's indexing on the shoulder of the reciver. Humm would sure make plunking on new barrels nice.

I can also swap barrels without removing the action from the chassis.

The feedback I have got is there can be a minor point of impact shift after putting a barrel back on. But it's not a big deal to zero after a change. If I don't like the qc system the barrel can be torqued in with an action wrench too

There are several companies making prefit barrels too. Just order a new barrel and thread it on. No custom fitting required

I am also looking forward to see how long the 400MODBB life will be. Frank Green has posted some great pictures showing the difference between conventional material and the new stuff

Picked up my action today from LMFF. This fat girl weighs in at 24#s on the dot empty. A little heavier than I was hoping for but it's balanced exactly where I want it. I may shave weight on both ends to drop it a little lower.

Going to shoot it and see how I like it. Fortunately it's very easy to change and move weight so I can adjust it how I want it. It should have very little recoil. A true "gamer" setup

I’m guessing the material on the scope is to reduce heat inside the scope ?

Haha. Nope. I saw a bunch of guys with their scopes wrapped and thought it was just a looks. Then at my first match I figured out quickly that the scope can get beat up pretty good shoving it through the baracades. Makes you cringe scratching an expensive scope as it drags across a metal rail.

Got to test some loads today. I really like the new action and QC system. Swapped barrels after load data and practiced with the 6.5.

First round of load development went good. I am going to run another batch around 42.0-42.2 but i am happy with the velocities and SDs in this range

I did some more load development. I added 10 more shots from 41.6- 42.2 grains to the original chart. The ambient temperature was 15-20 degrees hotter than the original 5 shots so I may have got some variations from temperatures.



Here is the 10 shots separated from the previous data so the conditions were the same across the chart for those 4 charge weights.




You may also notice that I added 10 more lines to the 65 guys spreadsheet so I can compare 15 shots instead of 5.
