Favorite Brands of Hunting Clothes

I’m going to buy some new hunting clothes. These clothes will be for deer and elk hunting, as I drew a rifle elk tag this year in Colorado and I plan to continue to try to figure out D14 in the upcoming years. I’m specifically going to be looking for pants, shirts, base layers, socks and gloves. What brands have become your favorites for big game hunting clothes, and what about their products have made them your favorites?

The best pants I have ever worn are the Prana Zions, I prefer the gray. Get a pair of Kuiu 145 zip offs and this combo will serve you well. I also love having a 150 range merino wool shirt. Don’t get caught up in name brands a lot of off brand merino shirts and sweaters on Amazon.

I like the new Kuiu camo patter, if I was starting over I'd go with there line.
Pants: you want a warm season pair and a pair with reinforced butt & knees also thicker. $$ 180 & 240
Upper body: a light pull over & a meadium to heavy jacket with hood & shirt tail. Good in the wind but light weight. $140 & 280
Buy this to start along with good under layers at a better price point......cheap helps
Don't forget about skull caps and gloves...... Got to cover everything

No joke this style of glove is my go to glove. I have $130 Kuiu gloves and I leave them at home. These are the most versatile gloves I own. Great for glassing, getting in and out of your pack, shooting etc.

I'll be that guy and make another plug for Kuiu. It's simply the lightest and most warm and comfy stuff I've owned. I love how versatile my Attack Pants and DCS Guide Jacket are. Also have the Merino 125 and 145 quarter zip shirts, and the Super Down Ultra jacket. Looking to add a vest and maybe some Tiburon hot weather gear this season. Other than Kuiu I also run some off brand merino base layers if I need another warmth level.

Kuiu and Sitka are good stuff no doubt. Sitka was the predecessor to Kuiu by ownership and Kuiu moved on to Kuiu when they suppliers to Sitka ham stringed them. Both brands were bred by an ex NFL player who's name escapes me at the moment (he left his life via suicide due to the head injury thing that has been long debated by the NFL). Bottom line Kuiu produces high end mountain and flatland hunting gear and is oriented towards all aspects of simple to extreme hunting conditions. You will never go wrong with their gear but in many instances here in the southwest you may not need the level of performance they offer. Spend if you like but I still abide by a less simple and affordable set of gear for the type of hunting I know.

Cotton t-shirts, hoodie (doesn't have to be camo), Merino wool socks, fingerless gloves (leather gloves for dragging deer), and Dickies work pants...Probably under a 100 bucks for everything...I think you get the point...You don't need to spend a lot of money on deer hunting cloths...2 cents....

ps...If it's cold...Under Armor cold gear...Some kind of turtle neck or neck gaiter...Any kind of a good insulated jacket.

I like spending money so all my "warm" weather gear (>30 degrees) is sitka and first lite...but when it is below 10 degrees on my colorado hunts I tend to wear ski clothes (down pants, down jacket, with merino whool base layers) with cabelas brand top layer.

Wear what makes you confident and comfortable.

I wore these gloves last year in D14, it got down around 30 degrees. They were good most of the day but my hands got cold in the early mornings. The title says fleece but the description says 100% polyester, thats got me a little confused. If they’re 100% polyester maybe thats why they didn’t work well for early morning sits.

Oh yeah, well my dad shot a deer in the middle of taking a leak. He saw the doe, took the 30-30 off his shoulder and dropped her! That was in Georgia. Now does that mean I should hike into the woods with a 30-30, 20 bottles of water and chug a bottle every 15 minutes? I don’t know, maybe.
