6.5 Creedmoor load development

Started load development on my new 6.5 build that i plan to shoot PRS with.

Ptg/Stiller TAC30 action
Proof research 24 inch bull barrel carbon fiber
MDT chassis
Jewel trigger
PVA muzzle brake
ZCO 5-27 MPCT2 scope

Load:
Berger 140gr Hybrids
Lapua small primer brass
H4350 Powder
FGM SR primers

Brass Prep:
Turned necks with K&M
Uniform primer pockets
Uniform and debur flash holes
Neck size with Redding competition bushing die

I had an issue with COAL fitting in to the magazines with the jump I wanted to start with @ .030. I ended up setting the jump @ .070 to fit the mags but the Hybrids are very tolerant of the longer jumps. I was aiming for 2850fps and just hit it with my max load. I am going to load up a few more charges above this group to see if there is a node between 2850 and 2900. Overall very happy with all the new gear producing solid results. Every load shot sub .75" and plenty of options with single digit SD's.

That's impressive! I would go with the 42.6 or 42.9 grains looks like the best results.

Solid! Just curious, have you ever thought about trying StaBall 6.5 out of it? That powder shoots very well out of my dad's -06.

That definitely looks like a good node but I am hoping for a little more speed. I hope there's something around that 43.8.

I just went with what seemed to be the most standard powder. The staball looks good too.

Agreed, I just want to see if there is something in the 2850 range. I know that's on the fast side for a CM. I want to try 44.1 and 44.4 for data purposes.

I will most likely load 42.0-43.0 in .1 or .2 increments and find the flattest spot.

My Creed liked 42 gr H4350 for 2766 Sd 15 and 42.6 gr H4350 for 2788 Sd 21. When I put it together.
I went with the 42gr H4350. 140 rounds down the barrel and it shot 2788 last time through the lab radar with sd 9.

Pick somewhere in the node and reshoot a 10 round satterly after your barrel speeds up to confirm your still in the node. Most creedmoors I’ve seen go 45-50 FPS after 70 rounds or so

I did another round of loads today to try and really nail down my charge. I also went a little higher than last time to try and get closer to 2850. Here are the results. I very happy to see so many single digit SD's again. The new gear is definitely paying dividends.

I like the numbers at 43.9 but that is really starting to push it. The MV on factory Berger 140 hybrid ammo is advertised at 2850 FWIW.

The 42.7-42.9 looks pretty solid to and this is more of a standard velocity.

I think i am going to roll with 42.8 grains. Looks like its very forgiving node

Happy with the 42.8 load. Got an SD of 3.4 over 5 shots
