Hiya all, I was browsing hunting forums and stumbled across this Southern Ca forum and figured it would be a good resource of info and to meet some fellow southern CA hunters.
I've only been hunting for 5 years. My family were never avid hunters other then pest control and duck hunting on the orange county farms way before I was born. I'm hoping to start the tradition and teach my son and daughter to hunt when they become of age. Been shooting firearms since I was a kid. A good friend of mine, who grew up on the east coast, got me into hunting. I've done a lot of quail and rabbit hunting. I've taken a break on the quail as the water situation has really dwindled the population. I started Deer hunting in D14 3 years ago and started AO hunting last year. I've yet to take my first deer but my buddy has filled his tags the past 3 years. So I'm learning how to hunt deer, hoping that this year I get my first buck! It's been a little hard to get out and hunt as I have a young family and hunting trips have dwindled. I think what I like best about hunting is just being out doors. Even without a filled tag I love it.
I've recently got into airguns for rabbit as the lead ban will effect my 22lr rabbit hunting when it takes effect in 2019. I was shocked when getting back into airguns to find that backyard plinking is considered discharging a firearm in city limits! BB and pellet guns where a staple of my childhood, sad to see that it's frowned upon.
Anyway, looking forward to learning and getting to know you all!
