2 3/4 inch turkey loads

If you are using a firearm the turkey should be shot in the head /neck area at a range close enough to insure multiple hits to that region of the body. (Wait for the bird to stretch it's neck out, (don't shoot a strutting bird)That usually means that the bird should be within twenty yards or so. You should pattern your gun at the distances you think you will encounter birds to insure that you know what your firearm is capable of. If you body shoot a bird and fail to kill it outright chances are you will never see it again and the coyotes will feast. That being said # 4,5,6 work but remember that if you choose the smaller size shot keep it close.

I was just wondering about this same thing and you just answered about every question I have!! I got my hands on an old Noble model 60 12ga pump with an adjustable choke. Went out and got some number 4 shot just need to pattern the gun now. Also want to go after some quail with 7-1/2 shot.
