    Tree Stand Stolen Again

I have ladder sticks up there too, with a hang on. I also keep a climber I my truck. I got this for introducing some new people to deer hunting. Pretty roomy and two can sit for a long time. Very sturdy. too bad it won't be used anymore.

    Tree Stand Stolen Again

Found my ladder stand had been taken apart and they took two sections of my ladder. Left the top because I had a good cable lock on it. Apparently you can't buy the ladders sections seperately either. Now I have a useless half of a two man ladder stand. Another great part about hunting Mt...

Anybody hunt Mt Laguna this year.

I hunt the Lagunas every year. I do encounter a lot of hunters but the number drastically declines the further you hike in. People are lazy. I hunt about one mile in from sunrise(no road access) and almost never see hunters in my area. Trail cams are the best scouting tools. Be sure to lock your...

When does the rut start in D-16?

Been seeing some small bucks running with groups of does. Had a nice 3x3 snorting at me when I was blowing my grunt call. Anyone else seeing early activity?

    First SoCal Buck

I used a Mosin Nagant Rifle (7.62x54R). Punched my D-16 tag on the last day! I was so stoked when I found him. Also felt nice that there was a group of 4 hunters that offered their help with getting him out and wanted nothing in return but to shake my hand and congratulate me. It was the hardest...

    First SoCal Buck

Walked up on a group of 5 doe and 3 bucks. He was the biggest and stood 20 yards from me. I shot him and he ran 50 yards. Drug him out for a mile and some fellow hunters helped me with the second mile. Great hunt!

    Stolen Tree Stand

I went to Mt. Laguna this morning to hunt and my tree stand was missing. Someone walked up wooded hill and cut the cable am took everything. Anyone know of anyone the just got a "new" tree stand? It was a fixed stand and a sectional ladder. Had a nice set of ratchets too. Gotta love the honesty...

    Opener report

I saw a doe and a forkie. Stalked to within 30 yards but managed to come up right behind some branches and couldn't get a shot before he bolted. I hunt Laguna Mt.

    A22

Saw a lot of deer on Mt. Laguna on Saturday. Some really big does. Why do so many people bash that place for hunting? I've seen numerous does this year, a 5x5, 3x3, and 2x2 this season. Haven't gotten a shot yet, during the A-22 (missed the 2x2 on opening day of firearms season right outside...

    Whose missed a monster

I missed a 2x2 on opening day. Saw a big bodied 3x3 right before, right next to the truck, while I was still inside of it. He'll make a mistake soon, I hope.

    Opening Morning

I had an amazing day for the opener in D16. Saw 3 does at first light then the wind started blowing and that killed the hunt. Fortunately I moved to another area because of the wind and saw a big 3x3 and a 2x2 and a doe. Sat in a field for the last hour of light and the 2x2 came out. Shot...

    MOON PHASE

I've actually seen plenty of movement mid-day when there's a full moon. I sit all day regardless of phase. Especially if everyone else is leaving the woods for lunch. That's the best time because they bump deer towards you with all that activity with hunters leaving the woods.

    Full moon, heat, wind

The 14th, on Mt. Laguna, the wind was blowing pretty steadily above 15 mph with gusts to 30mph ALL DAY. it was coming out of the NW so i started stalking along all ridge lines with steep south facing slopes and the deer were tucked into every blow down on the hillside. Saw some really big does...

    Tree stand ?

I've been putting my hang-on up and moving it when I find better places to hunt. They are a bit annoying to move from spot to spot, but they are worth it. I bought a hang-on from amazon and some climbing sticks there too. the stand was only like $33 and it comes with a full body harness...

    WHAT IS GOING ON???????????

I have hunted the Mt. Laguna rec area three days so far and haven't seen a thing. Going out there this weekend. Good luck out there. Saw a monster 5x4 out there(in a secret spot). I hope to get a shot at him. He has been a ghost so far this season though. Bring on the rut!
