    A22 deer behavior question

I hunt in an area that has free range cattle. I always drag my boots through the cow pies on my way in. If you have them close then try that too. I run into this same problem. You also have to watch “thermals.” In the morning when the sun is rising, watch the spider webs in the tree branches...

    How's the A22 going.

I’ve seen several doe. Only two days up in Laguna so far this season. No bucks on camera. Have a lot of sign. Trying to hold out for a buck but the does are getting very tempting. Couple fawns on camera that still have their spots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Scrapes and mock scrapes.

They both have large deer tracks in them and the branches above are chewed on. I haven't found any rubs in my area. Fairly certain I'm in a travel corridor between bedding and water/food source. Hopefully a pattern emerges on my camera.

    Scrapes and mock scrapes.

I have these two big scrapes with licking branches, about 50 yards from my tree stand. Always seem to be freshly used but haven't seen any bucks while in the stand...yet. Anyone ever make a mock scrape and have success? If so, use scents? What kind? Or should I just stay patient and hope he...

    How common is theft?

I lost a camera and a ladder to a tree stand last year. They took a chainsaw out and cut down the tree, to get the camera. Three years ago I lost a stand and ladder. A lock only keeps an honest man...... honest. Pieces of crap will find a way to get your stuff. I actually went so far as to use...

    Got it done today.

Thanks all. Definitely won't forget that hunt. I've actually never killed a turkey myself. Four seasons out here and just a bunch of missed opportunities/learning by mistakes. I'm hoping this is the year for me as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Got it done today.

Introduced a fellow co-worker/friend to hunting today. First hunt for him and I called in a couple turkeys. Public land in San Diego! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Blown out today

You just never know. Yesterday I jumped a group of 5 doe and one forky. I actually jumped them several times while trailing them. They would walk off about 50 yards each time and bed down. Deer can be weird. I've literally jumped them and had them blow at me, then 30 mins later circle around and...

It's Raining in the mountains boys

Was there yesterday. Passed on a barely legal forky. Saw 5 deer but all were between 12pm-2pm. I think the storms had them moving at night so the mid-day activity was high. Anyone else get those same results? Morning and afternoon were completely dead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Deer were moving like crazy.

So the light sucked and the go pro didn't pick it up well. He is about 60-70 yards away. He sat in the grass for about 10 mins looking around. I should've filmed with my phone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Deer Down!

Yeah. She was facing away from me. I'm really confident with my bow. I practice on 3D targets a lot. I was about 18ft up in a tree as well. I put it just above her pelvic bones. The shot was about two inches low, I was hoping to get it completely over her rump and behind the ribs. I think I...

The use of scents or lack of

I hunt near cattle. I bring a cow patty with me to my stand. I hunt in a thick ravine between two ridges. The wind swirls all day. I put the patty on the bottom of my stand and I see 10 deer per sit in my stand. I do use scent away gold. I think it's awesome. I also wash clothing in a lot of...

    For winds sake

I carry a bottle too. I don't pee within a half mile of my stand. I also hunt where there are cattle. I carry a gallon zip lock bag and scoop up a semi fresh cow party. I place the open ziplock at the bottom of my stand. This really masks my smell. I actually have more deer coming from my...

    Mt. Lion kill in campground

I saw two mountain lions yesterday, hunting on mt. Laguna. I took video. Will post on my other thread: Deer moving like crazy. Weird thing is that once they moved on, deer walked on the same path and weren't spooked. Had three walk through after the lions and walked the same direction. Just 30...
