Appreciate everyone's feedback again! Which ever method you use, I thank you for affirming my instincts. Hope I have success this first year going out with my bow. Should be fun "hunting"! Perhaps I'll meet some of you out on the trails some day. Good hunting to you all too!

Thanks guys! Glad to know I'm looking in the right areas. No these pics are from Mount Baldy , I think it's real name is San Antonio or something like that. Big hiking area one valley over from the ski resort. Lot's of foot traffic. Just using it as an example of other areas I'm scouting...

Obviously Baldy is not a good site with all the traffic but I thought the photos are representative of other areas I'm scouting.

Thanks MJB and everyone for your advice. I was hoping for a little more feedback on altitude locations to scout. I've been out on several day hikes in the D14 and D11 zones. I'm really familiar with white tail feeding habits and areas they would congregate. I'm having success in finding tracts...

    Hunting Boots D11, D14, D15, D16

Curious if anyone uses snake boots or gators in these hunt areas? If so, what is your preferred brand/make/model? I've been coming across several snakes on hiking paths and thinking it might be a wise investment? Especially if going trail blazing through chaparral?

    Optics recommendations

Ha! Like the cottontail story! I was anticipating a joke as I was reading along. Very insightful. No pun intended. [emoji12] All good info! Thanks . Setting up for Mules. Sounds like I can get away with not having a spotting scope too?? I'm of the philosophy... Buy once, make it last a lifetime.

    Optics recommendations

Can't find a thread on this. I'm considering my options on a good bow hunting optics set up. I have some bulky marine binoculars that are too heavy, bulky, and too low of power magnification. I'm looking at bumping up to a 10x42 magnification or stronger on my binoculars but I'm questioning...

Broadheads: Fixed or Mechanical for Deer Hunting

I've been using mechanical broad heads for Turkey hunting. Recommended by a friend. I'm planning on deer hunting this upcoming season and another gentleman said he had horrible experience with the brand I'm using. He recommended another brand. My brother-in-law uses fixed broad heads. I...

Reading & Understanding Maps where hunting is Legal

Thanks Steveo007 for the onxmap app tip. Never used my iPhone gps tracking for navigating. I'm a competitive offshore sailboat racer and really familiar using gps. I have a hand held garmin I was planning on downloading topo / hunting maps but read your tip and curious how good is the gps...
