    Need suggestion for outdoor activity

Renting a lodge isn't necessarily "camping". So some of the pointers (regarding safety, etc.) may not apply. But going up there may not change the lack of activities, other than better views when you're hiking or going for a bike ride. Depending on where you live, you may be getting away from...

Newbie Checking In. Where the Jacks at!

Probably a little warm for jacks now. I went in February, and we got 8 of them, between four of us. half had bot flies. You gotta walk deep into the scrub, make noise. But I've been out in mojave and had long periods of time without seeing them. Once you find them tho, they seem to be...

    New bow hunter

Are you new to bow hunting, or hunting all together? if new to hunting, why 16 if you're in LA? Just get AO and D11. AO can do all the D zones with a bow in September. D11 covers 11, 13 and 15 during general. And a lot less driving.

    Need suggestion for outdoor activity

Honestly, based on the tone of the OP and responses, I would not suggest she go "off grid" too far if she is not very well prepared or does not have someone with her who knows what they are doing. Nothing personal, but from the posts, I just don't get the feeling she camps a lot. Meaning...

    history

I keep at least a few rolls of TP and packs of flushable wipes in my truck and in my day pack, which stays in my truck. At all times. It's funny with everything going on and the rush to buy TP, when we drove through an Army post in the middle of Saudi Arabia in 1991, we (USMC ) must have...

    history

My wife and I have discussed going out to beaches, etc. but like Longbow stated, public restrooms every where are closed. So I welded up my own bumper dumper...if you have a privacy tent, just need to line bucket with a bag, maybe even throw in a little kitty litter. and you're golden.

    Determined this year

I'm pretty sure your friend can help and be able to look through his own binos and glass with you. He can be bird watching if ever asked.

    Determined this year

I don't think a "spotter" needs a tag/license. As long as he's not carrying a firearm. If it was Jan/Feb, I'd say go hunting for jacks to get your first kill. Nice break in hunt and super fun. Too warm now for rabbits. If you already have a 30/30, that would be sufficient versus pissing off...

    Turkeys in SLO?

I was going to be east of Lopez Lake. The went side of Los Padres is there. I've seen them around Lopez campground all the time. I figure I'll camp at Lopez, try to his LPNF and maybe get lucky. Sitting out there in camo with my shotgun beats being cooped up right now!

    Turkeys in SLO?

Thx sprig. Assuming we're not quarantined, or worse (martial law...*rolling eyes*), I'll be up there. Figure a nice week camping with a buddy ain't a bad reason. If we even see a bird on public, it would be worth it. With all the crap going on, camping around a camp fire, beers, steaks...

    Turkeys in SLO?

I've heard similar, but also not sure there's much else in So Cal. There's places up there when I've camped, that I've had turkeys come right through our campground, so I know there up there. But yeah, I'll be praying for a dumb one to walk onto public. Take him out of the gene pool

    Turkeys in SLO?

Any one hunt in that area? Maybe Los Padres, east of SLO? Not asking for your hunting spots, just curious if it's worth it.

    Bushnell scopes

Yeah, I explained that to them, which I'm sure they know and understand. Likely why once Elizabeth answered the phone, she gladly sent me the part for free. I have no doubt they will be swamped through February, between hunting and xmas.

    Bushnell scopes

Finally got a hold of someone. Sending me part for free. I think today's call was the 7th call and it also had me on hold for just over an hour, before anyone picked up. Service is good, but they need more people fielding calls. I'll be letting the corporate folks know that Elizabeth was...

    Bushnell scopes

So I'm running a Bushnell Engage 6-24x50 scope. While my rifle was slung, some how the windage knob/cap unscrewed and fell off. Not a huge deal for now since I'm zero'd to 200 yds, but still. Kind of important. Called Bushnell, great guy answered, former Navy doc (I'm a former Marine), so we...

    Hog hunting in Paso Robles?

Gundoglover and cadeerhunter, couldn't agree more. Yeah, some of my friends and I discussed Sonoma Lake. I think chances are low. I also may have free access to a ranch in Central, TX (friend of a very good friend). Whitetail and hog. I'm actually waiting to hear from him so I can...

    Hog hunting in Paso Robles?

Thanks, was hoping for local public...or at least in Cali. I'm already planning a trip to TX. Good friend has a friend with large range (200 acres?) and we have the green light for hogs. Waiting to hear back if he's okay with us going for white tail.
