Who burns wood in San Diego?

Hello all, I've got about 2 barrels of osage and other wood scraps from my bow building which I'd hate to see go to the landfill. I order a 6-12 lb stave and then my bow weighs 2 oz... I don't like the idea of throwing away all that wood which I paid for shipping!! Who can burn it? It's dense...

    Bow for hunting?

50 lb can also hunt moose and grizzly. That's plenty bow, especially for a newer compound. Keep your broadheads sharp and arrows over an ounce and you'll have sufficient penetration. Practice enough so that you can smoothly draw even when you're stiff and cold, and the pie-plate rule is a good...

    Camo Question

I'm a big fan of the KUIU camo. And my pants from them are so comfortable that I've worn them to work several times. I

Awesome accuracy. I too liked the bird sounds and the cow lowing.

    buying my first bow ???

Excellent idea to go to a pro shop, but not just for your gear. They are experts at showing new people how to use their gear, and how to pick out the shooting accessories that you may not even know you need. AND meeting people who have a common interest is a wonderful way to improve your experience.

    3d target shoot

I was at that shoot too! I brought my mastiff, Buck. Balboa has a lot of shade, so the temps are not bad. I usually bring extra bows for show and tell, also. There were a lot of people there, which is alright. It only starts to be a problem because you can almost always see the next group ahead...

Just moved to San Diego from AK, want to take my bow for a walk

By 'be careful', do you mean 'follow the law'? Believe me, I'm always in compliance with the law. Many of my hunting clients have felt put-out when I insisted on following the law, such as not killing same day airborne, not hunting out-of-season animals, etc. In the areas where I've guided for...

    Quail hunting got me this....

I've been faced with this issue for snowshoe hares, as well. Jackrabbits and hares are close variants. I had 10 of them to prepare once, so I brined and rinsed, then smoked them in my big chief smoker. Tastes great, and it's great to share with others who aren't expecting rabbit jerky.(Got those...

    kuiu gear

They must've sent 30 e-mail ads to my box. I gotta make $$ before I can spend more on them! I wore their rain gear every day of September this year, while guiding bowhunters for griz and moose. Here's a pic of me with a sheefish and my Kuiu attire

    Traps are set!

I've already trapped four rats and a mouse, plus one rat that I scooped out of the pool, in the last month here where I'm renting. One corner of the yard (next to a big bush) always smells like a hamster cage, so I'll keep up my efforts. I've had a lot of Peanut butter go missing from the trap...

    New to warm temperatures

tendons The main tendons I use are the leg tendons which split directly into the hoof on the back side the lowest joint, and the silver skin (backstrap tendon). I thank you very much for keeping an eye out. When we're hunting moose, most guys leave it in the field instead of carrying out that...

    New to warm temperatures

Hello all! I'm Michael Chadwick Virtually all of my hunting clothing is extra insulated. I moved here from Alaska in October; I had ice on the river in September while guiding bowhunters for moose. I hope to get out and do some scouting of areas this winter. If anyone wants help hauling out a...

Just moved to San Diego from AK, want to take my bow for a walk

I'm trying to start a business of selling self bows --- don't want to post a bunch here without checking to see if 'advertising' is allowable. Instead I posted a picture of me with a moose I got with one of my yew bows, and me from 16 years ago when I first started guiding for black bears over...

Just moved to San Diego from AK, want to take my bow for a walk

I moved to Encinitas with my lovely bride last month, and I'm yearning to do some hiking/seeking. I make and hunt with wooden bows and arrows, so you know I don't expect a full game bag very often. I'm rich on time, poor on funding and information. Can any like-minded folks show me the way...
