I have two types of stands, I personally like the old school type that pivots, most of the trees in So. Cal. that you would put a stand in are Live Oaks, they never seems to have a plumb trunk, so get one that adjusts a lot is the best advice I could give besides ALWAYS wear an approved harness...

I am afraid to say this (LP) but I have never contracted the stuff, but my son gets it ALL the time, he swears by breaking the blisters open and spraying WD-40 on it, I'm sure most of you think I'm crazy or full of it....... but I'm serious, I'm not telling you to try it, just telling you what...

As far as the A22 hunting goes......I've been out 9 times in the last 5 days, I've seen 4 or 5 bucks ,12 or 15 does , 3 coyotes and 1 bobcat. once that storm came through on Tuesday the animals disappeared. Leaving tomorrow at noon for 9 days to hunt in X9A (Mammoth Lakes area)

Having your own hunting land in San Diego or anywhere is key, not to derail the thread here but I would think real hard before buying a piece with a group of buddies. JMO

John your correct, but I think it's the throat that gets eroded, it can be avoided by not seating the bullet head so deep amongst other things, but I wouldn't want to shoot that thing 600 times! Thanks for the heads up.
