    WHAT DO YOU HUNT WITH????????

20-gauge SxS for birds only. Haven't hunted big game yet. Would love to get into archery like everyone else seems to these days, but I'm not anxious to throw $400+ on another weapon I have to learn from scratch! A lot of the high-powered bows these days, with their "triggers," seem awful...

ok thanksgiving is over who's going hunting

Just went dove hunting in the valley and my new (used) gun has only one working barrel - made for some close calls but no meat. Took it to the gunsmith to get the firing pin adjusted. Did some great clay and target practice though - great day to be out, today!

So is anyone hunting fresh turkey for Thanksgiving? I want to live vicariously.

Waiting period on my gun expires Friday and my only friend with a gun is out of town, so even if I *could* nab a turkey I wouldn't be able to by Thursday. But I can still enjoy yours!

    Rabbit seasons 52 days away

I am dying to try rabbit too... but instead of worrying how they cook up, I heard you have to be careful when butchering them - that you have to clean them with gloves on due to rabbit fever? We have one bunny who habitually frequents our backyard and comes out into the open b/c the kids feed...

    Guided turkey hunts?

Anyone know of any? As a newb I don't have any illusions that I'm going to be able to bag a turkey on my own by Thxgiving... yes I know they're smart, I need to camo up/be still/be quiet, I know a wide range of spots, but I'd need to take my friend so I could borrow her gun (a gun is too...

    mountain lion killing a deer

Yes you're right, with a meal this big she would need to asphyxiate the prey. I think I still have coyote predation on my mind - our house cat was killed by coyotes (in our own yard) a couple months ago and they broke his neck. With a very small animal it's the easiest way. On smaller...

    mountain lion killing a deer

That is fantastic, clearly the deer is big for her otherwise she would've snapped the neck quickly, but effective nonetheless!

    Friend shot his hand (Gruesome)

I think I've seen him post on other forums... he runs SoCal Guided Hunts, right? I thought I saw somewhere that he mentioned being filmed for a reality show, or maybe I'm thinking of another guide. So sorry for the accident, but glad to see he's healing well. Looks like he has a good...

Anyone scout for doves/hunt in Imperial County?

I did see a nice big coyote which crossed my path on the 98, for those of you who hunt yotes... sdbirds what are you bagging out there??? Brawley is all private, but glad to hear there's more up there. Seems more populated too though. I'm trying to imagine where would be far enough from...
