Best football-watching day in a long time! Watched the Ravens lose while keeping track of the Miami score which I COULD NOT BELIEVE and was so amped when the Chargers came on... I kept texting a friend who was at the stadium who said it was madness. Could not BELIEVE Succop missed it - lost my...
Poway. We are on a hill that slopes up to Twin Peaks. I've seen them here and in High Valley where some friends live, and heard them yipping like hyenas all over Blue Sky Reserve where I like to go hiking. Didn't realize how aggressive they were in suburban areas though with pets.
I...
You will! Twenty days is an eternity, sometimes.
Speaking of bagging cougar, did you guys see this story of the guy who shot two with a single arrow? http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/newshound/2013/09/wash-hunter-kills-2-mountain-lions-1-arrow
That is awesome! My little man is 5.5 and we got him those toy ones from Bass Pro... if he likes them enough I will look into this model for his 6th. :)
Agree with IM that lions aren't a "problem" for us, at least not yet. I've seen tracks like those in dry sand while hiking, but those wet tracks are awesome! Mine didn't photograph so well. Would love to see one in the wild, but not with my kids with me.
The worst part about the yotes is...
We also definitely have a HUGE yote problem. One killed our mostly indoor cat one morning in our fenced-in yard b/c we left the door open a crack to let our old dog go out at 5:30am, and after that I seemed to hear that they have no problem jumping over fences and grabbing pets in their mouth...
Nice take - those all mourning doves? Too bad there weren't Eurasian, you could've taken a hundred. ;)
I was there yesterday too but without luck. Your spot sounds sweet. I saw an enormous group of doves - mostly Eurasian - but they were hanging out at a cattle farm and not huntable land...
Hey S A, have you seen his pheasant pics? They might also leave your friends speechless.
No IM I have not, I'd love to see those! My friends here who don't hunt wouldn't know a pheasant from a quail though. But boy I'd love to see some pheasant out here...
Hey where did you see these again? Not exactly but general area... I have a non-hunting friend who was asking if I've seen any foxes and I said I hadn't but remembered this post and these incredible pix. She thought she saw fox roadkill in our suburban area.
Oh I get the allure, in fact I'm aware of some fairly well-known ladies around the country who hunt almost exclusively with bows, but when I checked them out at Bass Pro they were so pricey and it's not like I can practice in my back yard. ::)
