    Henshaw today

John, I know the lay out of Henshaw pretty good, I've hunted that lake off and on (more off) since the 90's. The point of my post was.....Henshaw is what it is.... There are folks that get to leave their gear out, don't have to work as hard as "Joe Public", and there's nothing that's going to...

    Henshaw today

Henshaw is interesting, always loved the lake. But,,,,is it private or public? Public can pay to hunt, but it would appear that the private members do get a little extra privilege. They do get to leave their blinds and dekes from hunt day to hunt day. Kinda takes away from the guy that wants...

Wister draws for opening weekend are up

No love for me or my son. Actually, I was hoping we wouldn't get drawn and have to burn the draw. Might as well save the good luck juju for after Thanksgiving on Wister draws. We will be in Peoria for my son's baseball tourney on opening weekend. BTW, I only drew twice for Wisterd last year...

    Waders

Lots of wader options, I am a big Cabelas fan myself. Neos, sweat more, but in my opinion will last longer. Breathables, less sweat, but in my opinion are a bit more fragile and not as long lasting. In a perfect world, I'd have 3 pairs, neos, breathables and some wader pants, but I am a poor...

WHERE ARE THE BARRETT LAKE DUCK HUNT REPORTS?

Go to this link to see the overall report: http://www.sandiego.gov/water/recreation/huntrep.shtml When you get to the lake in the morning, they should have blind by blind counts.

    DUCK HUNTING BARRETT LAKE

You don't really need waders, but it would be nice. If you have a dog, great for retrieves. If you don't have waders/dog, you'll need to use your boat unless they hit land or float to shore. The lake is a canyon lake, so wading more then a few feet away from the shore line may be futile. You...

    Otay Lakes

Encroaching home developement. The East Lake home building boom basically came up to the western shorelines of both Lower and Upper Otay. As it was, they had to get special permits or whatever to be able to shoot at Otay when it was annexed into the Chula Vista City Limits. I guess we were...

    Can't wait for waterfowl season

I start getting itchy for duck/goose season when I see all the mated pairs flying around the hood in March/April! It's tough hunting the opener in 100 degree weather, but come Thanksgiving....it's on!!

    Duck gear

Cabelas is a great place to start, plus they stand by their products. Lots of major brands out there though, it will come down to price and comfort. Aint nothing worse than being cold or wet in a duck/goose blind! Like most quality gear, the term "you get what you pay for" comes to mind, but...

    Otay Lakes

Otay was a great little SD gem for duck hunting. I miss it very much! Used to hunt it every hunt day for years until it shut down. Remember the camp outs just to get reservations?

    NEW TRUCK?

I have an '07 D-max, love it. I am a Chevy guy through and through. But if you are looking new, I hear that Ford's new diesel powerplant is a good one compared to the previous IH Powerstrokes. Time will tell... But all of the new Big 3 diesels are putting out some insane HP and Torque...

    Wild Within

Very cool show! It's not all about the sponsors in terms of hunting gear. Rifle, bow, or by blade, Steve is very matter of fact. I'm not sure about eating road kill, but entertaining none the less.

    Rifle hunting vs. Archery hunting

John makes some excellent and well thought points for discussion. It's a preference, not a measuring tool. It's about respecting nature and respecting others sharing the same resources, be it game or lands. I've never bow hunted, maybe some day, but for now, I'm fine rifle hunting.
