If you can find a local shop with good customer service then go for it. I have yet to experience it in any gun shop that I've found locally to date. Maybe post up your guys' recommendations on local shops. I'll just bite my tongue on which shops I feel lack greatly in the customer service...
Trust me, I have bought two bows online. Bruce has always treated me as if had bought the bows directly from him. Which is why he has gotten my last two bow purchases as well as countless references. There is allot more in purchasing a bow and getting it set-up than a gun IMO! ;)
I guess I don't understand the reason why it is so important to find something that shoots as close as possible to field tips? I shoot field tips all off season but come season I shoot nothing but broadheads. I adjust my site to where they hit where I aim. Once the season is over I adjust back...
BUD's has a list of FFL dealers on their site. Just pick one and that is where they send it. FYI, I saved over $350 on my last Browning. Put that towards a good scope! ;)
The only mechanical heads I ever tried were the Rages. After fumbling around with them for a full season I only use them for turkey hunting now. I cannot tell you how many times one of the blades would fall open on me. Most of the time it was happening while stalking through tall grass but there...
I started off with a Bowtech Independence. Then I bought a Bowtech General...then I shot a Diamond Black Ice for two years and now I shoot the Bowtech Assassin. I have a little different search criteria when looking for bows due to 4 shoulder surgeries. I need something light (3.5 lbs.) and...
Larry, check out budsgunshop.com these guys have great prices and it's an easy transaction. I've had nothing but great experiences with them.
Don't be shy of the .30-06 either. It's a cheap round that will handle anything in North America. Also, Savage is good...but I love my Brownings! ;D
I only hunted the a.m. opener. I took my wife out for her first local archery hunt so I was hoping that something would come through just to spark her excitement if nothing else. At @ 9:15 we had a small doe at 20 yards. Overall it was a fun hunt...just wish that doe was bigger. ;)
I am off to...
I started hunting at age 31 all on my own. It was something that I was drawn to for years and just finally one day said screw it, I'm doing it! I have had zero regrets from day one.
