CWA working on W11 and Y15

I appreciate your perspective as one who hunted Wister for years and now hunts the North . When the Y15A and B panels were worked all 9 blinds became island sites . And yes the 100 yard rule applies unless there are 5 blinds then it’s 50yds. I guess the point is the reverse is true also and why...

CWA working on W11 and Y15

Rick , I like the current staff under Chris but it’s my opinion that input from those who use Wister has been not sought nor open communication both ways implemented . The point Matt and I are making is that EVERY blind when reconstructed has been an island . After Y15A and B ponds were worked...

CWA working on W11 and Y15

Thank you Matt for saying what I’ve been moaning about when it has become apparent that island blinds are completely taking over . As an older, long time Wister hunter with mobility issues island blinds cut me out . I would hope whoever is making the decisions would take us into consideration...

Where do you get your arrow weed for blind material?

It’s NOT a dumb question . If you hunt Wister it is almost a must . Having said that it is almost like posting a favorite blind site . It doesn’t take much to wipe it out so sharing on this site should be frowned upon . Also like the hunting site you need to spend some time and scout . Anywhere...

URGENT -CADFW Region 6, IWA & SJWA Public Outreach Meeting Oct 6! READ THIS

Thank you Rick ! I appreciate this . Since I wasn’t in the discussion I feel anything I would say should be kept to myself . I believe we should give Chris our support as he is doing a big job in a tough place . I drove the entire Refuge this morning and have some observation/questions . If...

URGENT -CADFW Region 6, IWA & SJWA Public Outreach Meeting Oct 6! READ THIS

Anyone record the meeting that might provide a link ? I scouted Wister this morning and planned to be home in time . One serious rain storm flooded the 10 with me on it In Beaumont . Couldn’t work the phone . Luckily Wister was dry until I got on the road . Looking at the radar I bet it got...

If that puppy pic with her looking up in love doesn’t melt your heart you don’t deserve a dog ! Still really like her as a young lady . Old Quack 49

Summary of Waterfowl Season 2021-22 in pictures

I was out there a lot and kept looking for familiar faces . Disappointed by how few I knew . The days of saying Wister was “Our duck club” are over . Sadly ! Oldquack 49

    Fish at wister

Hunted Saturday up north and a group of pelicans landed in our pond and in a tight group started scooping and swallowing some kind of feed . Didn’t see the fish and except in the reservoirs and canals didn’t expect enough fish for that . They weren’t real wild about our shot at a duck and took...

San Jacinto - best blind to take non hunting female for first time hunt?

Good on keeping private help with blinds just that, private . Tullies are bad there and even dogs strike out sometimes . Good hunt . Oldquack 49

San Jacinto - best blind to take non hunting female for first time hunt?

Good on her and you for going together ! I’m no San Jacinto expert and won’t give you best shooting advice , Tom will do that . The blinds that have an above water walkway and hog wire blind will be easier on her . Maybe a closer distance from the truck is good too ? Good luck and report back ...
