    Am I Wasting My Time?

I figure if worse comes to worse, I’ll pressure cook the hell out of them, then add a jar of green salsa and make enchiladas!

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Thank you for that, you are a fount of knowledge, a gentleman and a scholar! I’m not adverse to hunting out of the state as others have suggested, but if I can find a few spots within a couple of hours drive, well, that would be much better. I’ll be hitting OnX hard tomorrow checking out your...

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Right. I figure before investing in a new platform, I’ll just use my 20 gauge at first for Cibola. Got plenty of lead free ammo for that one.

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Thanks for confirming that. I would prefer not to have to change platforms altogether, I love my 10/22!! It’s looking more and more like me and Arizona are gonna get better aquatinted. Oh yeah! When the time comes, there will be pix!

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Yeah, that’s the one. Sounds nasty, but from what the article says, it’s treatable and after getting it you develop an immunity. Wouldn’t go out of my way to get it, but not a deal breaker either. High dessert, I’ve heard that. I wonder if that’s BLM or State land. I’ll google it. Thanks!

    Am I Wasting My Time?

That’s what I’m talking about! I love that show. That’s my dream, to only eat what I can kill or catch. I’m sure that recipe would work with cottontails as well. Snowshoe hares had a strong piney taste in the winter due to their diet being primarily pine bark. We would soak the pieces in milk...

    Am I Wasting My Time?

I haven’t considered AZ. I‘m spoiled I guess because back east, I could practically hunt in my back yard! I reckon driving long distances is just a fact of life out here. Thanks for the input, I’ll start looking into it. I’ve visited AZ quite a few times, I like it a lot, just never thought of...

    Am I Wasting My Time?

I’m originally from Quebec where I focused on small game, that’s the kind of hunting I prefer. Snowshoe hare, cotton tails, ruffed grouse and woodcock were my prey of choice. I’m trying to find the rough equivalent here in SoCal and could use a little guidance. So far I have outfitted myself for...

Just out of curiosity, what breed of dog is that? They look like excellent hunting companions!

    Just sayin’ howdy!

I know a couple of Marines who hunt mulies on the base. They glass the hills and stalk, no stands for those boys! Back where I’m from, guys would start baiting around their stand with corn and apples a month or so before opening day. That seems more like harvesting then hunting to me. I’m in my...

    Just sayin’ howdy!

I’ve never done that yet, but strangely, I saw some black and white footage of Clark Gable and his wife shooting geese when I was just a boy and that’s what sparked my interest in hunting.

    Just sayin’ howdy!

Thank you sir. From what I‘ve read, it’s tough to hunt deer, but I’m more interested in predators and birds, so I’m optimistic!

Thank you Steve, that’s much appreciated! I was fishing Dixon this morning, trying to hook a catfish but no luck... Never been, but Alberta is known as a deer hunters paradise. Elk and sheep reside there as well if I’m not mistaken.

    Just sayin’ howdy!

I’m originally from Montreal , Quebec. Small game pretty much. Ruffed grouse, woodcock, snowshoe hare and the occasional cotton tail. They’re pretty rare up there. Sat in a stand a couple of times waiting for a buck that never showed, decided that wasn’t for me. I was younger then and liked to...

    Just sayin’ howdy!

That’s definitely on the menu, but for this season I just want to get my feet wet and stick close to home. I’m looking at Zone 15 since it’s real close to where I live.
