    Grew up hunting but didn't get my 1st deer (a doe) until later in life. It was with a Bass Pro Shop branded bow that my dad bought me. After dad passed I was determined to get my 1st buck with that same bow. It took a good number of years but I did it 2 seasons ago here in San Diego. .

    1st and 2nd Turkey. Both taken within 30 seconds of each other in Kona Hawaii. Had 50 plus hens on a fly down with a handful of long beards. The 1st one I shot came in as a loaner from the opposite direction of the fly down. Then two others came running to see the 1st one flopping around...

    Guy with crossbow

    You can obtain a disability permit that will allow you to use a crossbow for archery in California. The Fish and Game site is down right now so I couldn't validate 100% but unless it has changed this year it can be a legal method of take. Got to get a doctor to sign off and do some paperwork.

    You will need a map for sure, preferably one with grid lines etc. so you can better tell where you are. And within the boundaries, it is archery only.
