I sure would like some info on either ranch, Cummimgs or Benz Ranch.
I should have my membership number this week and planned on reserving one for a hunt either the first of second weekend on the season.
I hunt with a rifle only. I did hear they were going to open up one of these ranches to...
I live in upper Orange County.
Not into birds but maybe in the future.
WU has about 7 properties in Imperial County for birds.
I plan on hunting in Kern county this season.
After some scouting and speaking with the forest ranger I decided to give up on public land and joined a hunting club.
The ranger was so down on hunting in the federal forest I couldn't believe it.
He convinced me not to bother taking my rifle for a hike.
I joined Wilderness Unlimited. They have...
Didn't go to Reyes, stopped before I got there Saturday.
Did stop at Reyes on the way home Sunday.
Glad I didn't go there first. Full of people and in a deep canyon.
Would have been a bear hiking out of that.
Camped at Pine Springs. No water there.
Well I didn't see any turkeys or deer or bear...
I'm still not buying it.
The seeds would be long gone after several months.
So when they were hunting, there couldn't have been any seed left.
If the seed was still on the ground and not germinated, that would be baiting, yes I see that.
So if I planted a plot of Tecomate seed on my own land in March I would be considered baiting when hunting season comes around?
That sounds really stupid. The regs even say, in so many words, if it is growing it is not baiting. Not buying that story at all. I call B.S.
Fairy tail or urban...
As far as I know it is not baiting until I start hunting.
I am simple looking for animal activity, not shooting anything.
I didn't think it was illegal or even unethical to do this.
I am going out to Los Padres this weekend.
I thought I would bring a bag of apples and place them in certain area on Saturday.
Plan to come back Sunday and see what I can see.
Anyone ever do this?
I figured water would be the most important thing.
It looked like Reyes would have it.
We'll see how it goes, head out early Sat morning.
I understand the camp grounds are first come. How I can get a spot.
Heading to the forest next weekend to do some scouting.
Haven't been there before. Thought I would try Reyes Peak and Pine Mountain area.
Anyone have any experience in Los Padres Forest?
Any thought on a location to scout?
I was told by the rangers in Corona the distance to shoot is 150 yards.
Now that may not include within city limits.
I would think that if the forest is not a mile from homes the 150 yards would apply because you are on federal land.
Someone should press that and let us know how it works out...
Did some coyote hunting last weekend east of Trabuco Canyon on the Orange County side up near a small reservoir.
Saw more hikers than anything else.
No animals at all.
Had to park the truck on a residential street.
What a waste of time.
Will try the Corona side next time.
Anyone familiar with...
Just registered.
Found the site through CalGuns.net.
Just bought a Howa 1500 7mm Rem Mag.
I am taking my hunters safety course end of March.
Looking for places in SoCal to hunt coyote or any other varmints.
May do some wild pig hunting up the coast later.
Any and all help is appreciated.
