No it will not burn your points if you put it as your second choice. The reason he says many people will burn points is because they might not realize D16 has changed to a premium zone and therefore put it as 1st choice thinking it won’t burn points.

I’m trying to figure out how to let my youth take advantage of the advantage. Last year we just applied for a youth hunt as his first choice for the first deer tag drawing application. I feel like I’m missing out on some advantage by doing that and don’t want to make the same mistake again...

Can anyone help me understand the advantage of youth being able to apply for apprentice hunts on the second deer tag drawing application? I’m guessing there is an advantage which is why they let youth do it, but I can’t figure out what it is. Thanks!

Just remember that anyone can put up a sign anywhere...A sign being there doesn't make it true. Try to determine who owns the land. In this case OnX shows it as Los Padres National Forest. From there I would search their website and try to get in contact with the closest ranger station.
