    What's in your hunting pack?

I'm gearing up for a week long backcountry trip, good info in here guys. I'm looking into food that will last on the trail and be calorie rich enough but also not weigh too much. Mountain home sounds to be the defacto, I found another company called "Heather's Choice"...

    SPEARFISHING

SurfNHuntSD pretty much covered the gear. I'd recommend getting a speargun and not a polespear. Read the fishing regulations and know what fish to shoot and what to leave alone (no catch and release in spearfishing). The visibility is pretty bad these days close to shore but hopefully it clears...

    Archery Tag Confusion

I assume though that the late season is now impossible to get since A22 is sold out.

What type of dog is ideal for so cal hunting?

I did a quail hunt in Georgia a few months ago where Boykin Spaniels where the goto for flushing and retrieval. They had a great personality, worked hard and were (so the trainers said) great family dogs.

    #231 Bluefin

72" Merlo/Harranen Tuna gun, 6 bands, cable slip tip and rigging. 5/8 shaft. 100ft bungee with a RA hardfloat, float clutch and a 3ATM Riffe torpedo float. Some of you might know the diver that was with me on this trip. I couldn't have got the fish without him.

    #231 Bluefin

By a long shot! This is my first tuna, I've never been able to connect with one. I've taken plenty of shots but they are fast and hard to land. I'd say for my first one I knocked it out of the park!

2 mt lions or lion stalking a deer?

wow, these are great. about a month ago I was driving the back roads of Laguna and saw a lion ON THE ROAD. I thought it was a coyote at first but the tail and how far it jumped gave it away.

    #231 Bluefin

Headed out with my buddy in my 15ft whaler on Saturday and found some breezers in the blue water. Took 4-5 tries but we finally got in front of them and I was able to jump in and shoot a nice one. I thought it was a #50-60 when I shot but when I pulled him up I realized I had a tanker. I hit him...

    Archery Tag Confusion

Ahhhh, ok. So Aug 2 is when the remainder A22 will be available as a restricted hunt if there are any left. If they are all taken my best bet will be the AO. I only have D16 as of now. I thought July 7 was when remainder tags where available. Thank you for the clarification.

    Archery Tag Confusion

Not an option for me any more since my first tag was g13 but I didn't get it, so I got a d16. My original thought was I wanted to archery hunt as much as I could but also knowing how low the probability was of success I wanted to get rifle also to make my chances better but also hunt as long...

    Boar chops

Did you brine the chops at all? I cooked mine in a cast iron just like a t-bone and it came out great, my buddy did his same way and said it was chewy and a little gamey. I didn't notice any gamey flavor at all, or maybe I just like it ;D

    Archery Tag Confusion

Ok, that's what I was figuring. I tried for the G13 and got the D16, I'll pick up the AO then. Thanks for all the help.

    Archery Tag Confusion

Hey guys, so I got D16 as my first tag for rifle but I want archery as well. Last year my friend got A22 and was able to hunt early and also late into the season. I see from the DFG site for my second deer I have A, AO and A32 available. My plan is to scout early with my bow, then general season...

Kuiu Gear a little small for me. - SOLD

So I picked up some attack pant size 32 and the Teton Zip-T size M but I thought I was skinnier than I was and they are both just a little too small. Small enough for me to notice... Wore both during one pig hunt up north, washed twice (once before and once after) with dead down wind. I love...
