Hit a D16 spot this morning. Wasn’t able to hunt that long before the winds kicked up. Bumped a sizeable covey that quickly flew to the steep/thick unhuntable area. The covey busted quite a ways out for an opening day hunt and they were not very vocal. Felt like a late season hunt. Kind of odd...

Yes, good luck to all other as well. It was blowing 20-30 in my quail spot today and strong winds in the AM so hoping it stays calm at least for the morning hours for the Sat opener.

Nice to get out this morning for a couple of hours after the last storm. Birds were much less vocal than I expected. Managed to miss two and get two. Took a buddy out that hadn’t been all year and he had a blast. Was a gorgeous day out today in the backcountry. Lots of quail this season...

I use 7s in fast steel for morning and white wing. For all other upland, I’ve had good success with Hevi-shot products. Dad and I along with friends found we were getting too many crippled quail with straight steel. Hevi fixed that and results seem close to lead.
