Nice day out in the water

Great day and pics! Thanks for the report.

    Almost chukar time

Yah, the season is approaching but its hot and I’m not ready for those climbs yet!! Probably will wait until late Oct/November when it cools down. 6 of us just did a 3-day 200+ mile backcountry run in the SxSs and base camp was in chukar central. Kept looking up at the exact routes on those...

    The 280AI - shooting well

Wow! Great shooting and setup. My 280 AI is shooting well but nothing like that! Looks like you are on target to reach out quite a bit further at some point. Keep us posted.

    Elk gun

Completely agree with your comments about shot placement. Long before the elk hunt this last season, was curious to see how a copper bullet might work. Liked the penetration and expansion aspects experienced by many with copper and experimented with a few different loads in the off season...

    Un-F’ing Believable. Poacher in May?

Just kidding!!! Sorry, couldn’t resist as I had that fear when I set up my first cell game cam many years ago. Again, great pics thanks for sharing.

    Un-F’ing Believable. Poacher in May?

Nice pics and great looking spot. Just a heads up. Make sure in your cell game cam to disable your gps location. It seems to be embedded in the advanced settings of your pic files.

    OOPS!!!

That's a phenomenal photo! I've only visually encountered 1 wolf outside of the park (not anywhere near the park). Funny thing is the wolf was quite a bit bigger than any in the wolf pack we watched in Lamar Valley. Thanks for sharing.

    Newbie Needs Rifle Advice

Great that you are getting into hunting. It is a very rewarding hobby/sport that offers tasty meals. I agree with the Moderator and would start out with the 270. More comfortable to shoot than the ’06 so most are more inclined to get more bench time. For most, firearms are akin to tattoos, not...

Looking for new 7mm rem mag

Seekins makes some really nice rifles. My next door neighbor and friend has the havoc element. Have you tried to order one through Duncan’s? They were able to obtain an extremely hard to find rifle brand and model for me a few of years ago through one of their east coast distributors. Not...

What a great outing. Thanks for sharing the story and the pictures.

    Elk gun

Legendary author and outdoorsman Jack O’Connor touted the 270 and slayed big game all over north America, Africa, and elsewhere. One can only imagine what he could have done with the modern ballistics and optics of today in something similar. The first 2 minutes of this clip with accomplished...

    Elk gun

Hmmm. Given Left Hand and no particular order, then: Savage 110 Ultralite in 6.5 PRC or 280 AI Christensen Arms Ridgeline in 6.5 PRC or 7mm-08 Browning X Bolt Hell’s Canyon Speed McMillan 6.5 PRC or 7mm-08. I think there are some other X Bolt left handed platforms as well. Might be hard to find...

    Hawaiian Deer

Fascinating. What type of terrain do chukar occupy there? Terrain not like CA, NV, ID that I've been too.
  16. Q

How far are you guys glassing game?

Like you mentioned, a lot depends on factors such heat waves, terrain, etc. I’m reaching out to 6 miles regularly with my 65mm HD spotting scope (w/tripod) from the house. And with snow on the ground it’s a lot easier viewing at those distances. Maybe a couple of miles with handheld binos (no...

    2022 4th Season Co Elk

Awesome! Thanks for the report and pics. Lots of great meat for you, family, and friend for quite a while.
  18. Q

    which spotting scope?

Did a ton of research and ended up with Vortex Razor HD angled 22-48x65. The spotting scope is awesome. Had a different scope 60 power before but not needed and those are bigger/heavier and ended up getting rid of it. If you wanted to shave a few hundred bucks off, the Viper in the 15-45x65 is...

Whats the rundown on cooking Wild Turkey?

Always looking for quality game recipes. Have you tried his and is it good? Mountain Dew, mustard, and rub...I don't know!
