So I was out bow hunting on Saturday and saw this hawk patiently waiting by a squirrel burrow hole. I decide to put my long-lens camera on him and 30 seconds later...Bam, I lucked out and caught this on film.
(Why should National Geo have all the fun?)
Normal lake shore hunting. The trick is to draw a good blind so try to get info about how each blind shot from the water dept. office the day before you go.
Plan on using 1 - 1.5 doz. ring-neck decs. Bring a diver duck call and soft call them occasinally. Camo up real good as per usual. Use...
Nice pics guys. Looks like the bucks are starting to move around. The rut will be on us soon.
I hunted most of the day Saturday. Saw a HUGE buck (probably 120-130"). I tried a stalk but got busted by a doe and backed out. Didn't want to blow them out. I rehung two trail cams and a tree...

Lungpopper is going to be tough to beat, but i love a challenge. I'm in for $10.00. Send me the entree form and rules. Where is the cut off line? Those Lake Isabella D9 and Tehachapi D10 bucks are pretty big. Also, this contest is on rack score right?

Even though I'm a born and raised western mule deer guy, I think the whitetail people have the better system.
Just got back about 4:30 pm. Worst wind I've seen in eons. We literally had it change in every direction today. Wind aside we saw a ton of deer. Seeing lots of juvenile bucks now. Nothing bigger than a fork.
My budding launched an arrow at a yote. Missed over his back by 2".
Fun day.
