    Wet Stinky Turkeys

I really like San Diego, except for no cell phone coverage anywhere. I have a Gobbler roost narrowed down to a about a 100 yards now. Not sure where he is going during the day yet. I tried calling him in for two days, moved closer in the afternoons and waited for him to start gobbling again in...

I took Steve’s advice and waited the storm out, man it made for a long weekend, hitting the road now for turkey camp 2024 three days in the turkey woods of the 16.

    Access question

Not sure which exact trail you are referring to but there are a few trails in D15 that go through private that you are allowed to take and link up to the NF trail. There will be a sign at the trail head with the rules. But basically you have to stay on trail the entire time while passing...

    Wet Stinky Turkeys

The extended forcast showed the rain not starting till saturday afternoon, but that has moved to 5am now so that plan is out the window. Going to head out Monday right after it passes, Tuesday and Wednesday look like blue bird days.

Do you think they would come back to roost mid day if it starts raining or keep doing their daily routine?

    Wet Stinky Turkeys

Looks Like a wet opener in the San Diego turkey woods. The PTO has already been burned. How is hunting turkey in the rain? Better to come in after the rain passes? I have a week wed to wed to relocate them and hunt them and the rain falls right in the middle.

Turkey Hunting at Little Dry Creek

Here ya go, drive is all part of the hunt. Go up a day early to drive the roads, more driving, they will usually let you on in the evenings to scout after the other hunters are done for the day if there is a hunt the day before.

    Archery practice Ventura County

You can go out onto BLM land and bring a cube, but a compound bow, 60 -70 yards and no back stop you are going to lose or destroy a lot of arrows, at least I do.

I have a cameo in one of those videos. Upon further review during skinning the 12 gauge hit it in the front and the 17hmr ripped up its back. Fun times in the IV for sure.

    Bear?

The activity has really picked up the last few weeks. Berries are gone and they moving on to acorns. Look for the stands of yellow oak leaves on the mountain and they wont be far, they are easy to spot from miles until the leaves drop. Mostly moving at night though.

Yea you can have a bear tag while hunting AO after the general season has started. You can keep hunting bears till Dec 25th. A31 is not a general tag though so if you dont have an A31 tag bears is all you will be able to hunt.

    Binos?

I use the 10x50 vortex diamondbacks, i like them. I use a monopod as my trekking pole I can mount them to for stability when sitting. I beat the crap out of them and they hold up.
