I second this. If you set your eye relief perfect at your highest magnification, you should be good at the lowest. It may even take a few tries. Often, I find that what feels like perfect eye relief behind the rifle in the garage ends up not working when I actually go to shoot.

Gotcha. I definitely heard your shot further away after those two shots that were closer to us so I think you’re right on the money. Those birds there seem super keyed up to hunters so even more props to you for sweet talking that guy off private. Congrats again man!

Good stuff man congrats! Did that bird happen to come in from the south chasing a couple hens? We got outsmarted by a gobbler in the same area that put himself between us and the road, never giving us a shot. He end up chasing some hens towards the north and got himself shot just a few minutes...

I agree and thanks for the insight. I almost exclusively hunt larger areas of public for that reason and always try to coordinate with other hunters at camp or access points and find out where they’re headed so I can avoid stepping on their toes. Agreed and I know they didn’t mean to interfere with my hunt. I’ve unintentionally stepped on some toes out there and it’s a shitty feeling. California’s tough enough as it is.

You’re absolutely right I don’t have anymore of a right to be there. I was genuinely trying to ask about the etiquette of the matter and if I was getting frustrated for no reason which it sounds like I probably was. My intent wasn’t to bitch about the other hunters but to ask others opinion...
